Beneath the Waves

Beneath the Waves

A piece of Zombie Mermaid fanfiction published under the name Luna Summers.

The ocean was eerily calm that night, as if it were holding its breath. The full moon shone brightly in the sky, illuminating the dark waters below. A lone figure swam through the waves, their hair trailing behind them like seaweed.

But this was no ordinary swimmer. For this was a zombie mermaid, cursed to roam the seas for eternity. Her skin was a sickly shade of green, and her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light. She had been a victim of a terrible experiment, and now she was forced to live with the consequences.

As she swam through the waves, she couldn’t help but think about her identity. She had always been different, even before the curse. She was a mermaid, but not the kind you read about in fairy tales. She had dark skin and curly hair, and her tail was a deep shade of blue.

The zombie mermaid had always struggled to fit in with her fellow sea creatures. They would whisper behind her back, making fun of her for being different. She had learned to ignore them, but it still hurt.

Now, as she swam through the waves, she couldn’t help but think about how her identity intersected with her curse. She was a zombie, but she was also a mermaid. She was both dead and alive, fish and human.

It was a confusing and painful existence, and it made her think about the experiences of other marginalized people. She knew what it was like to be different, to be judged and ridiculed for something beyond her control.

As she swam, she came across a group of mermaids who were playing in the waves. They were all white, with pale skin and blonde hair. They looked at her with suspicion, and she could feel their unease.

The zombie mermaid swam closer, determined to show them that she was just like them. She smiled, hoping to put them at ease, but they recoiled in horror.

It was a painful reminder of how deeply ingrained prejudice and racism were in their society, even in the underwater world. She knew that her curse made her different, but it was her skin color that made her truly alienated.

But the zombie mermaid refused to let their ignorance and fear get the best of her. She swam away, her head held high, knowing that she was stronger than they could ever imagine.

As she continued to swim through the dark waters, she realized that her curse was also a gift. It allowed her to see the world from a unique perspective, to challenge dominant cultural narratives about race and identity.

She would use her curse to fight for a better world, where everyone was accepted and valued for who they were, no matter what they looked like or where they came from.

The zombie mermaid may be cursed, but she was also powerful. And she would use that power to change the world.
