Goldberry’s Cats: A Tale of Love and Loyalty in Middle-earth

Goldberry’s Cats: A Tale of Love and Loyalty in Middle-earth

A piece of LOTR fanfiction, written by an author under the pseudonym of “Falco Bramblethorn”.

In the palace of Minas Tirith, the princess Goldberry waited anxiously for her husband Tom and King Aragorn to return. As she sat in her chambers, she played with her three cats: Miaulë, Oikeroi, and Umuiyan. They were her constant companions, and she spoke to them often.

One day, as she gave her cats a play mouse, she said, “Q Merin sa haryalye alasse!” She knew that they did not understand her words, but she felt comforted by their presence.

Meanwhile, King Aragorn was on a perilous journey to save the people of Gondor from a great evil. He was known as the “truthteller,” a man of great honor and integrity. He was loved by all, for he ruled with wisdom and justice.

As he traveled through the treacherous terrain, he thought of his beloved wife and his loyal people. His heart was high within him, and he sang a song of hope.

At last, Aragorn and Tom returned to Minas Tirith, victorious in their quest. Goldberry was overjoyed to see her husband again, and the three cats purred happily at their return.

But Goldberry’s cats had a secret past. They had been saved from the clutches of Tevildo, a mighty cat who was coal-black and evil. His eyes were slanted and gleamed red and green, and his whiskers were as sharp as needles.

Many in the kingdom believed that Huan, the great wolf, had killed Oikeroi, one of Goldberry’s cats. But Goldberry knew the truth – she had given Huan the coat of Draugluin, the wolf who had once terrorized the land.

Umuiyan had been rescued by Lúthien Tinúviel and Beren, and Miaulë had found his way to Goldberry’s palace and now worked as a cook for the cats.

As Goldberry sat with her cats, she felt grateful for their companionship and the knowledge that they were safe. She whispered to them, “You are my dearest friends, and I will always keep you close.”

And so, the princess and her cats lived in harmony, watched over by the wise and just King Aragorn. The world was fair, and hope flourished.
