“The Road to England: A King Alfred Fanfiction”

A King Alfred fanfiction written by “Medieval Dreamer” that includes sentences in Chinese and Japanese.

As King Alfred sat in his study, he could not help but feel restless. He had always been a curious man, eager to learn and explore the world beyond his kingdom of Wessex. And so, when he heard that a group of travellers from Asia had arrived in his court, he was intrigued.

He went to meet them and was surprised to find that they spoke in a language he did not understand. They gestured wildly and tried to communicate with him, but to no avail.

Alfred knew he had to find a way to understand them, to learn their language. And so, he began to teach them English.

It was not an easy task. The travellers struggled to grasp the language, their tongues tripping over unfamiliar words and phrases. But Alfred persisted, patient and determined.

As the days passed, the travellers began to understand more and more. They spoke with Alfred in broken English, telling him of their experiences and sharing their knowledge.

One day, as Alfred was teaching the travellers English, he noticed that they seemed to be struggling with a particular phrase.

“What is it that you’re having trouble with?” he asked.

One of the travellers replied in Japanese, “この言葉が分かりません(kono kotoba ga wakarimasen), we don’t understand this word.”

Alfred nodded understandingly. “Ah, I see. It means to do something completely and with great attention to detail. For example, if you clean your room thoroughly, it means you clean every corner and make sure everything is perfect.”

The travellers nodded in comprehension, and one of them said in Chinese, “谢谢(xiè xiè), thank you for explaining it to us.”

Another day, Alfred and the travellers were sitting outside enjoying the sunshine when they heard the sound of music in the distance. As they listened, they realized it was a traditional Chinese song being played on a nearby instrument.

One of the travellers began to sing along softly in Chinese, and Alfred was entranced by the melody and the beauty of the language.

“爱是闪耀的东西 (Ài shì shǎnyào de dōngxī)”.

“What is the song about?” Alfred asked.

“It’s a love song,” one of the travellers replied in English. “It’s about two lovers who are separated by distance but still feel connected through their love for each other.”

Alfred smiled in understanding. “Love is a universal language,” he said. “It can be expressed in many ways, but it is always a powerful force that brings people together.”

The travellers nodded in agreement, and one of them added in Japanese, “愛は輝くものです(ai wa kagayaku mono desu), love is a shining thing.”
