When Martine was told by a psychiatrist that she has \u201ca very serious form of autism,\u201d she didn\u2019t feel bad about it. In fact, for her, it was like she could finally start writing her own story: \u201cI\u2019m not \u2018crazy\u2019; my brain just works differently.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This understanding is the main theme in the English book \u201cInside the Autside: a misfit manifesto\u201d (2023) by Martine Mussies from the Netherlands. She takes us on a journey through her life as a bisexual, autistic woman in the Netherlands, showing that autism can teach us a lot about the complexity of the human brain and our society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
