They worked all day and they were already very tired, but they knew there was a fairy tale waiting for them to be told by the Talking Tree. They always waited impatiently for his stories. These were usually the memories of the Tree from his youth, but also the stories he heard from other inhabitants of the kingdom. Gummies sat down comfortably in their beds and wrapped themselves in blankets. After a few minutes of silence and impatient waiting, the Tree finally spoke.

“The fairy tale I will tell you today will be a bit different,” the tree started, with a mysterious smile. “You already know that our land is inhabited by many dangerous, but also wonderful beings. Have you ever heard of dragons? Witchers? Mermaids?”

The Gummi Bears nodded their heads, because they knew these characters. On their faces there were small but sincere smiles, because they already knew that the story of the Tree will certainly be very interesting.

“I know one dragon personally. His name is Eusebius. When we first met, he told me almost every detail of his life. He is very cordial and open-minded, that is what I value him for, and I am glad he is my friend,” continued the Tree.

“But let’s start from the beginning. One of the first adventures in Eusebius’ life that I met was his expedition to the island of the Mermaids. This place was known only from stories. No one had ever arrived there before, and many people were convinced that it was only a legend. A dragon flew over the calm waters of the sea when suddenly he saw the land. He was already a bit tired, so he decided that it would be the perfect place for a short rest and regeneration. He landed on an empty beach and started to walk around the island slowly. Surprisedly, he discovered that he could not hear birds singing or the noise of trees. He also did not notice any living thing. He lay down on a huge boulder and began to think. At one point he fell asleep. He was woken up by a loud slurry of water.”

Outside the window a lightning struck, and the Gummi Bears jumped up in fear.

“Don’t be afraid, little ones,” the tree smiled with pity. “Nothing bad happened to the dragon. It turned out that the noise was caused by the mermaids splashing. Eusebius had never met such creatures before. He quickly got up from the boulder, stretched his wings and moved towards them. His sudden reaction scared the sirens, which quickly disappeared under the surface of water.

After a while, however, they surfaced again and waved uncertainly towards the dragon. Eventually, Eusebius made friends with them, and they invited him to his hiding place inland. There they told him the secrets of the island. The apparent silence and lack of a living soul were to deter uninvited guests. It was only in the hinterland that the dragon discovered the true face of the land.

He was very surprised when it turned out that this was the legendary island of the Mermaids! Eusebius met there the Witcher Geralt, who was also only a guest on the island, and then he was introduced to the Queen of Sirens, Amalia. The woman sat proudly on her throne, holding a shield and a sword that would always defend the island’s inhabitants from any harm. Eusebius took some souvenirs from the island of the Sirens, given to him by the sirens. I received one of them as a gift – a mysterious amulet.”

The tree reached to one of its branches, and after a while it pulled out a small bundle from which a decorative pendant slipped out. The bears looked at the object with interest.

“Here it is. It’s supposed to serve all stray travellers to find their way. Once upon a time… I’m gonna give it to you so that you can go out into the world safely, and then come back to me and tell stories of your own adventures. Dear bears, don’t be afraid of challenges and remember, that there is a grain of truth in every legend…”

The Talking Tree has finished its story.

That night, the Gummi Bears fell asleep with smiles on their little snouts. They dreamt of their own adventures, awaiting them in the future for new, yet undiscovered lands.

In the depths of the internet, there are many hidden treasures to be found.
